Emily has always loved the bath. She loves kicking, splashing and soaking whoever is helping her! Now she sits up and continuously stands up, a little scary! She is nearly 10 months old and on the verge of walking.

This weekend was our first big, real, snowfall. The kind that really starts winter and the holiday season to me. It’s here to stay! Lucky for us it is Sunday so Jeff was home all day. We went for a walk to our favorite path in Bunn’s Creek and got some pretty cute photos of Emily in the new, fluffy snow. It was also her first time in the sled. She loved it! Even fell asleep sitting up on the way home.
I did it! I finally made Emily’s monthly video ON her monthday! It took all day but it was worth it.
This has been a HUGE month for Emily. She has developed a ton and hit so many milestones. Teeth, moving, crawling, pulling up to kneeling and standing. Things are a lot different around here! It is so much fun!
animoto 360p(4) from LeslieDent on Vimeo.

We hit two major milestones this month. On October 12th Emily cut her first tooth followed by the second just days later. We thought she was teething (when are they not teething, seriously?) based on her behaviour but she didn’t have the classic “teeth are coming” symptoms like swollen gums, red cheeks and diaper rash. I was feeding her breakfast on the 12th and I saw the pearly white glow on her lower gums! Her two front bottom teeth are fully cut and growing more everyday.
For the last month and a half Emily has been prepping to crawl. She started pushing up on her hands and then up on her knees. Then she moved to a plank and then into downward dog! She could push herself backwards along the floor and then on October 21st she started real crawling. Now there is no looking back! Jeff is thrilled as she is right on track as per his training plan 🙂
VID00028 from LeslieDent on Vimeo.

We cannot believe Emily is two months old! A part of me feels like she has been here forever (that whole time is doubled when you’re not sleeping thing) but the other part of me that wants to hang on to my newborn baby feels like time has whipped by. With all the great weather this week we have been out and about a ton 🙂 so I don’t have her two month post complete for today :(. I did, however, remember to take her two month photo on her actual two month day. Yahoo! I guess when I look back at my time with Emily as a baby I will, and would rather, remember doing great things with her than getting a blog post done on time ;). The rest of the post will come when it comes!
Okay, here it is. Her 2 month growth photo is here.
Untitled from LeslieDent on Vimeo.

We can hardly believe it has been one month since Emily joined our world. It feels like she has been here for a looong time. Maybe that is because time is stretched out when you aren’t sleeping. So instead of a day consisting of 16-ish waking hours, it’s more like 20. So each day is like a day and a half. Add it all together and it feels like forever?!
I saw a couple of very neat ideas on pinterest for documenting growing children. One is here in a photo style, one is here in a scrapbook style and the other is here in an audio style (LOVE the QR code idea. We will do that later on:). If you don’t already know pinterest, get to know it. It is the best. It really helps me fill the middle of the night feeding and rocking time!
So my spin on the “20 Questions Birthday Q+A” is a Monthly Q+A with Emily S. We will do the interview style Q+A when Emily is older (and able to answer question – that should be about 10 months, right?!). We are a week late with the post because I had to think up the questions and create the form. Again, this would have been a 45 minute teacher job. This means it’s a week-long mom job. I am quickly learning that my estimates on how long things will take needs some serious adjusting. It will not take 45 minutes to feed, burp, dress and calm Emily into her carseat as well as make myself presentable and get out the door. Add an hour. That is the new rule.
So here is our documentation of Month One and Emily’s 1 Month photo. It has been an amazing ride. Click on the image to zoom in.
Once upon a time we were friends in high school. Through our early twenties we lost touch. Then one hot June day, we both happened to have our students at a Goldeyes game. I saw Jeff across the masses of hot, sweaty adolescents and called his name to say hello. We talked briefly and continued on with our students. That was it. No, not as in the rest is history, we lived happily ever after, as in I didn’t hear from him! Eventually, after a few emails and some chatter over msn messenger we had a dinner date. In December. Late December. Six months later! Now, the rest is history. Some dating, some co-habitating (just me, Jeff and the revolving door of single or divorced male roomates!) a mountain top proposal and then a December 2010 wedding! And now, here I sit typing this first Scarcello blog post with one hand because I can’t bear to put down our baby (ok, she won’t let me, she’ll wake up if I do. But I don’t mind that one bit. I know it won’t last). She is everything we have ever wanted and more. Better than in our dreams. She is perfection.
I am blogging to document our family for us. I know the details of these memories may fade and I want to hang on to them as long as I can. Plus, a year away from my class and student blogs? Get serious. I need to redirect that digital energy somewhere! Maybe you would like to share our blog experience and watch us grow, we would love it if you did. You can check back once in a while to see our updates or you can subscribe by email to our posts so that you are notified when there is something new to see. Emily Elaine Dent Scarcello was born on April 6th, 2012 at 4:33am. She weighed 7lbs 6oz and was 20 inches long. We were both surprised when the doctors announced she was a girl. We were fairly convinced with the Scarcello line of boys and the way she stuck out straight in front of me that Emily would be Lloyd or Floyd or Freddy or Eddie (if Jeff had naming rights)! We love our little girl to bits and are so excited to watch her grow and learn.
